April 2020 Featured Plant: Black currant
A common shrub of wet habitats, wild black currant produces edible berries, shelters wildlife and feeds pollinators. In a diverse planting it grows singly or in small colonies; in disturbed areas it can form thickets. While uncommon commercially, native currants provide more benefits to pollinators.
